Three reasons why you should hire a lawyer for your speeding ticket

A common question that attorneys get is: Do I REALLY need to hire a lawyer for my traffic ticket? Read here to learn what our attorneys have to say:

1. Save time: By hiring an attorney, you will be able to save yourself from having to miss work. In almost all cases involving simple speeding tickets (under 80MPH unless you are on the interstate or going more than 25 over), an attorney can appear for you without you having to be there at all. What you can expect locally: Guilford and Alamance start at 2 o’clock and you will have to wait up to three hours for your turn, depending on if and when your case is called. Alamance in particular, they handle all standard traffic tickets without attorneys on Friday afternoons… not a great way to end the week! In Forsyth County, court is open to the public at 10 AM, on a first come first serve basis. While you might only have to wait in line for five minutes, you might be there for three hours, because they can handle upwards of 1,000 tickets on a busy day in that courtroom. Just depends on how many other people came at the same time you did. With a lawyer, you will not have to even take off work. The lawyers at Payne Law, PLLC will handle it all for you.

1: Save Time

2: Get the Best Results

2. Get the best deal possible: An attorney will be able to negotiate the best deal for you possible considering your driving record and any other factors that the district attorney will consider, such as weather, traffic considerations, etc. Certain counties also strictly limit the number of improper equipment you will receive in a given time period. It is helpful to know what each county’s “standard” deals are and what options the district attorney’s office will consider. An experienced traffic ticket attorney, such as the ones at Payne Law, PLLC, will be able to navigate those hurdles with these to help you get the best results possible.

3. Save Money: Hiring an attorney is not as expensive as it sounds! On most traffic tickets when you factor in court costs and paying for a driving history, the actual cost of hiring an attorney is under $200 for a simple speeding ticket. Of course, if you were going over 80 miles an hour, or this is the third ticket in six months, then the fees might be a little bit more. However the fees will still be much cheaper than risking it and ending up paying increased insurance for three years after conviction! This is especially true if you have multiple prior tickets. A typical cost for a traffic ticket is around $400 (plus or minus depending on speed, fines, etc.). You’ll pay around $188 in court costs, $25 fine, $50 improper equipment fee… ALL of that money you will spend even if you do it yourself. That’s a total of $263 to the courthouse. You’ll pay around $5-20 to pull your driving record (because the DA doesn’t want to do your work for you), which leaves around $100 to $150 for the attorney. Compare that to paying even just $25/more per month in car insurance – you’ll spend almost a thousand dollars more for insurance over the next three years. Not to mention things like unpaid time off work (or having to take hard earned paid time off), plus hassle, inconvenience, having to find parking and deal with the courthouse…

3: Save Money

Cost to hire attorney
Cost of extra insurance ($25/month for 3 years), plus court costs for pleading guilty to ticket without lawyer

If you get pulled for speeding in Forsyth, Guilford, or Alamance Counties or the surrounding area, give our office a call and let us quote you a price. Not only will you probably not have to take off work, but we will save you money by making sure to get you the best deal possible to preserve your insurance premiums and driving record.

TRAFFIC TICKETS: IMPROPER EQUIPMENT VS. PJC

If you’ve ever received a traffic ticket (and maybe if you haven’t) you probably know the term “improper equipment.” When I got my first speeding ticket everyone seemed to know that “improper equipment” was the outcome you wanted, but no one knew how to get it – thankfully, the attorney I hired did! I didn’t realize that an attorney could appear on your behalf in court, under some circumstances. Depending on your situation, it may be wise to hire an attorney to free up that time you may need. Plus, it helps to have some legal help and advice in any legal situation, especially if it is a new experience for you.

Thanks for the advice about hiring an attorney, even for a simple speeding ticket. You made a great point when you compared the cost of legal fees to the cost of insurance if your rates are raised. The money I could save is great, but the benefit I see in getting a lawyer is protecting my pride. I really feel like didn’t deserve this ticket, and I was really upset when I got it! Hiring a lawyer will be worth it if I can prove I was not in the wrong.

It really helped when you talked about how hiring an attorney to help with your traffic ticket can help you negotiate the best course of action. I can definitely see that keeping this in mind can help you make sure your driving record stays fairly good and that your insurance does not charge you more for premiums. Personally, I would want to make sure I educate myself on how cases like mine work so I am ready with questions when I finally choose a lawyer to help me.

That’s a good point that there’s more at stake than a fine. You don’t want your insurance to go up with a conviction either. There’s a lot of procedural formalities in court that could lose you a case, so it might be better to not risk it and rely on a lawyer instead.

I like that you mention how a traffic ticket attorney can help negotiate the best deal for you. It makes sense that traffic tickets can be a very complicated matter, particularly if there’s a history of traffic tickets. Knowing that an attorney would be able to help the process become easier and make more sense is very appealing, especially if they’re able to reduce your fines or points.

My husband recently got a decently sized speeding ticket on one of our neighborhood roads, so I thought I would look into possibly getting him an attorney to help bring it down a little. It is so true that having someone with legal experience on your side will allow you to have the best outcome possible with you driving record and other things taken into consideration. In my opinion, having all the help you can get will only benefit you in the long-run. Thank you for the helpful tips!

It was a little surprising to learn that hiring an attorney is not as expensive as it sounds. I feel like there is a big misconception on how much it cost to get legal help. My husband recently got a speeding ticket. I’ll have to talk to him about hiring an attorney since it sounds really beneficial when you consider how that can help preventing you insurance from rising.

I was a bit surprised when I read how hiring an attorney isn’t as expensive as it sounds. That’s a misconception that many people seem to have. The pie chart you included really helped me understand how much money it’ll save hire lawyer.

I liked how you pointed out that a traffic violation attorney will help the person by negotiating the best deal for their case based on their existing driving records. If that is the case, then I will be sure to get my sister to hire a lawyer for her driving ticket. I know she will prefer other types of punishment over jail time, so she better start looking for someone to help her. Thank you for sharing.

It’s great that you point out that hiring an attorney isn’t actually as expensive as you would think. My brother recently got a speeding ticket, and he wants to have a lawyer to support him in court. I think he would really benefit from finding a reputable lawyer to stand by him and help him through the situation he’s in.

I never knew that an attorney will be able to negotiate the best deal for you possible considering your driving record. My dad got a reckless driving ticket last year. Thanks for the tips on reasons to hire a lawyer for a traffic ticket.

I agree that you can save time by hiring an attorney. This will allow you to also avoid having to take time off work, like you said. You can just hand off the details of the case to the lawyer and they can work on it completely for you.

My last traffic ticket had a big fine that I shouldn’t pay for so I might contest it with the help of a lawyer to save money. I think it would be helpful to have one around to make sure I get the best results possible. Since I can’t afford to miss work next week, I might hire one soon to save time as well.

Thanks for pointing out that, with some restrictions, the attorney you hire can appear for you without you having to be there at all. I recently got a speeding ticket that I need to deal with, but I have so many other responsibilities right now with work and family. I hadn’t considered that hiring a lawyer would free up time for me, so thanks for letting me know!

My brother was involved in a traffic violation and he wants to make sure that he will not have anything on his records. It was explained here that he can save time and get good results to hire a traffic violation defense lawyer. Furthermore, it’s recommended to hire an experienced traffic violation defense lawyer for the best outcome.

One of the safest ways to deal with speeding tickets is by hiring a traffic law attorney, you can save time–by that, meaning you wouldn’t need to take a day off of work just to appear in court to get the ticket resolved–since the lawyers would be the one to handle the court cases for you. Another thing to keep in mind is that you can save money when you hire a lawyer to help you take care of the ticket for you since it would be much cheaper than having you do all the legwork yourself. Honestly, that ticket caught me by surprise, I wasn’t expecting to get that although I was going under the speed limit!

It is good to know that an attorney could appear before me in court. I think this is good so I wouldn’t need to miss work. It might be worth the money for a traffic violation lawyer after all.

That is great that a traffic violation attorney could save money. That is something that I would want to have. Then I wouldn’t have to worry about spending a lot on a ticket.

That is a good point that a typical cost of a traffic ticket is pretty high. Maybe it would be good to get a traffic ticket lawyer to help me out and save some money. Maybe it would be good to hire a traffic ticket lawyer so I can save some money to buy some stuff for my kids.

That is a good point that you could save yourself from missing work by hiring an attorney. Maybe it would be good to hire a traffic ticket lawyer soon since I just got a ticket. Then maybe I could get this all figured out in a timely manner and not during work.

This is some really good information about finding a good lawyer. It is great to know that it would be smart to make sure that you hire a lawyer that isn’t too expensive. That does seem like a good thing to understand if your case is going to be a long one.

I like how the article explains that hiring a lawyer for a speeding ticket can help to save you money as they will be able to help save you from paying the ticket and increasing your insurance. I recently got a speeding ticket and I am worried it is going to cost me a lot of money. Maybe I will look into hiring a lawyer for my ticket.

I like how you included that an attorney will be able to negotiate the best deal for you possible. My sister recently got a speeding ticket and wanted to know if it was even worth hiring a lawyer. I’ll make sure to pass this information along to her so she can know that hiring an attorney is beneficial.

You make a good point that hiring an attorney to represent you in traffic court will help you not have to miss work. I just got a ticket recently and I have to go to court, but I don’t have many days off left and my son’s first baseball game is also coming up. I think getting a lawyer to represent me would make life a whole lot easier.

I like how you mentioned that by hiring an attorney, you will be able to save yourself from having to miss work. My brother got a ticket for speeding but he has a very important meeting on the same date as his court date. I will recommend him to contact an attorney so he can attend to his meeting.
